Creating Community Awareness
in Nebraska & Iowa
Sharing our story and addressing the issues . . .

Calling All Iowa Advocates!!!

The concerns, needs, and hopes of the individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's disease and dementia need to be shared to strengthen the support of the various communities that stand by us.

The Alzheimer's Association Midlands Chapter believes that together we can accomplish this through expanding our statewide Community Awareness Network.

Community awareness takes on many different forms of communication, with several diverse audiences who need to hear from us. Your participation is essential for our success.

"In Nebraska the Alzheimer's families' participation
was crucial to the passage of LB148,
the Respite Lifespan Care Bill."

Senator Dennis Byars, Beatrice, NE
Sponsor of LB148

We create awareness by informing the general public through existing opportunities, such as, community service organizations and existing public events.

We need to share our stories at every opportunity possible--such as community forums and informational pieces in the news media.

Only if we address the issues will we influence the solutions. Advocating for legislation and public policy issues through letter writing and direct contact with elected officials is one example of our potential role.

How can you help? Join us in developing a Nebraska/Iowa Community Awareness Network. Your personal participation is critical to the growth of our network of advocates.

Add your name to our mailing list to receive awareness updates and information on activities in which you may want to participate.
